Long arm quilting services are offered at Quilter's Quarters, so that we can help you complete your creative projects!

We offer competitively priced, machine quilting on our Millenium quilting machine in our fully-insured, smoke-free studio. We can help choose the quilting that best compliments the piecing of each top by drawing on our knowledge of the quilting process.

Our longarm quilting includes:

Edge-to-edge patterns
Block Insets
and Custom Quilting

Most of our stock patterns can be sized to fit and we would gladly consult with you regarding custom quilting. For custom quilting services, you may schedule an appointment with the quilter to formulate a plan for your project.

Quilter's Quarters stocks quality battings and wide backings for you to choose from as well as many beautiful fabrics which may be pieced. We also feature our monthly BBQ day for a great discount! Quilts are completed in a first come, first served manner. However, if you have time constraints for a completion date, we will do our best to accomodate your deadline.

BEST RESULTS FOR YOUR PROJECT:
Many of you spend precious hours piecing and assembling your tops, and we want them to look equally fabulous when they have been quilted. Here are some tips for getting the best results:

THE BEST BACKINGS FOR MACHINE QUILTED QUILTS and WHY

MINIMUM SIZE: 8” wider x 8” longer than the top - this allows for proper mounting on our quilt frame, and allows us to apply proper tension to get an evenly sewn pattern on your quilt.
SELVAGES: Remove them from being included within the size of your! They cause uneven tension in the backing which can result in puckers and tucks.
SQUARE IT UP: This ensures that your top and batting are set upon a foundation that is not baggy.
PRESS IT: Remove wrinkles and folds so they do not end up quilted into your backing.
BE COGNIZANT OF GRAIN: If some portions of your backing are cross grain and others are cut along the grain when pieced, the backing will not have even tension, and this may result in sags
BACKSTITCH: Backstitch the edges so they do not pull apart, and make sure your seam stitches are short for strength!

EDGE-TO-EDGE QUILTING: the best backing will be sewn with the selvedge edges running down the sides. The most stable part of the fabric is the length-wise straight grain edge wich runs parallel to the selvedge. Backings constructed in this way are less likely to stretch. Adverse effects of stretching is a puckered quilt.

BORDERS:
One of the most common problems we see is borders that do not lie flat..
Borders that are cut along the grain of the fabric, rather than cross grain, are more stable and less likely to flare.

Many piecers find the following method of applying borders helpful.
TO MAKE A BORDER WITH STRAIGHT-CUT CORNERS:
1) Determine the length of the quilt border by averaging the distance of two or three center measurements. Cut two borders that length and pin them to opposite sides of the quilt matching ends and centers and easing in the fullness. Sew and press.

2) Determine the width of the quilt border by averaging the distance of two or three center measurements. Cut these borders that length and pin - easing in the fullness. Sew and press.

To make mitered corners, consult a quilting book that contains instructions for finishing a quilt.

COSTS:
Quilting labor costs are based on the top's square inches. Multiply the top's width by the top's length for square inches. Multiply the square inches of your top times the kind of quilting your top needs for the labor cost.

Standard Edge-to-Edge Quilting is: $.02/sq in
Small Scale or Intricate Edge-to-Edge is: $.0225 - $.025/sq in
Meandering or Outline Quilting is: $.025/sq in
Custom Quilting range is $.035 - $.055/sq in

We have a $50 labor minimum for Edge-to-Edge Quilting, and a $95 labor minimum for Custom Quilting.

There is an $10-$15 per hour prep charge for repairs, or, if we have to complete tasks that were the customer's responsiblities.
